Urbanism. Architecture. In this this proposal for a competition entitled "The city; Crescendo" on the site of a abandoned railway marshalling yard in Lille, the combination of several types of housing with increasing scale and complementary functions gives birth to a new type of multipurpose island. The building height increases from the centre to the perimeter of the area. These "sections of city" incorporate all the parking spaces needed, releasing adjacent public spaces.
